Rung
How to play
- You get a start word and a trivia clue. The clue fits more than one answer, and the start word is a sideways hint. You'll usually need both to pin down the hidden four-letter answer.
- Climb toward the answer by changing one letter at a time. Every word along the way must be a real dictionary word.
- The answer itself can be a proper noun, such as a person or a place (TAFT, ROME). That exception applies only to the answer. Names don't count as steps.
- Each word you play is colored to show how it compares with the answer:
- R Right letter, right spot
- O In the answer, wrong spot
- X Not in the answer
- Par is the fewest steps possible using words most players know. Rare words are allowed too, so you can sometimes beat par.
- Hit a dead end? You get one undo per puzzle to take back your last step. Use it wisely.
